Whether you’re making them one-off for your favorite coffee date partner, or making them in bulk for easy gifting—these 5 DIYs will leave you with gifts people will ACTUALLY be grateful for. And require no real crafting skill, don’t worry.
1 – HOMEMADE FLAVOR SYRUPS
For the caffeinator that likes to keep it clean but sweet, a homemade flavor syrup is a great way to let them spice up their cup. Featuring none of the crap in the store-bought brands, you can tailor your syrups to nearly any flavor you please. Here's one we can’t get enough of.
Cinnamon Brown Sugar Syrup
-
1/2 cup brown sugar
-
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
-
1/3 cup water
Combine the sugar, cinnamon and water over medium heat in a pan. Whisk until the sugar dissolves and you see some bubblin’ occurring. That’s when you want to turn the heat down and let it cook on low 1 to 2 minutes. Let that sucker cool & serve it up jar with a bow.
2 – INFUSED SUGARS
For those looking for the easiest option of them all, say hello to infused sugars. These are great for gifting to someone who takes their coffee station as serious as a heart attack, but you can't be bothered to do more than dump a few things together. This flavor is our favorite, and the recipient will thing you went all out:
Chai Spiced Sugar
-
1 cup sugar
-
1 tsp cardamom
-
1 tsp apple pie spice
-
½ tsp of ground cloves
-
¼ tsp of ground ginger
Once all of those are getting' familiar in your bowl, stir your sweet concoction and cover. You could use it right away, but we suggest sealing your container and letting it sit for a week, allowing the spices to truly infuse with your sugar.
3 – COFFEE ORNAMENT
Ok, maybe we lied. This might be the easiest of them all. No cooking or mixing required. This is simple addition, beans + ornament = cute.
You can buy these empty ornaments meant for crafting all over the place. From there you want to take a small funnel & fill the ornaments with the coffee beans. Give them as a set that will keep the tree smelling as fresh as a new pot of coffee.
4- COFFEE SCRUB
This one might look like you’re gifting people little jars of mud, but they’re going to be asking you for more come next holiday season. Coffee is a great exfoliant that also promotes healthy circulation. This scrub can be used on both the face and body, so get weird. Technically, you could even eat it. But let’s just stick to scrubbin’. You’ll need:
-
¼ cup of coconut oil
-
½ cup ground Death Wish Coffee
-
¼ cup brown sugar
-
¼ cup course salt
-
OPTIONAL: 5-10 drops of your favorite essential oil
Then, simply mix your ingredients until they’re well combined. Then serve it up in an airtight container to whoever is smelliest on your gifting list.
5 – COFFEE-INFUSED BOOZE
A gift for the perpetual partier, infused-booze is simple but says “I give more of a sh*t then just stopping at the liquor store on my way here.”
-
1 cup booze of your choice (we find vodka works best)
-
1/2 cup Death Wish Coffee whole beans
Pour the beans directly into your booze and seal. Leave the beans to steep for 24-48 hours, then strain them from the alcohol.
Then, you’re going to put a piece of cloth in the top of your jar. From there you’re gonna want to grab your lighter. Wait... sh*t, that’s a Molotov Cocktail. Don’t do that, try making this Minty Mocha Martini instead.
There you have it, 5 DIY gifts for coffee lovers. And if even these simple options seem like a bit too much to conquer during this busy time of year, don’t forget—nothing beats a bag of the bold stuff. Shop coffee, merch and don’t forget to check out what's on sale.
