In the coffee community there can be a visceral sense of shame around putting cream in your coffee – going so far as being called “sacrilegious” to many coffee lovers across the globe. But hey, we get it — sometimes you just need a little somethin’ somethin’. So we’re here to validate your need for cream. As Wu Tang once said – Cream Rules Everything Around Me….or something like that.

If you’re reading this, coffee is most likely the lifeblood of your daily routine. There are some coffee purists and rebuke the act of adding absolutely anything to their bold brews. These people are also more likely to be psychopaths (read more about what the f#ck we are talking about here)…so you may not want to take their word for it.
We are here to reassure you that there is no shame in the cream game. Adding cream to your coffee can be an easy way to enhance the flavor and texture of your cup of joe, while also making it significantly more enjoyable. Not only can cream completely change your caffeine fix, but it even has health benefits associated with it.
Benefits of Cream:
1. Elevate the Flavor Profile.
You may hear that many people don’t like to add cream to their coffee because it takes away from the flavor. This is not actually true. Adding cream to your coffee brings out the natural taste and aroma of the coffee, while the fat from the cream potentiates the flavor of the coffee. Take that coffee snobs.
2. Improve Your Gut Health.
Heavy cream contains butyric acid, a fatty acid that is known to improve gastrointestinal health and make one feel full when added to coffee. Who doesn’t love a good 2 for 1?
3. (Coffee) Beans, Beans, They’re Good For Your Heart.
Cream provides beneficial fats such as monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats that can help regulate cholesterol levels, which in turn improves your heart health. Everyone knows that a healthy ticker means your doc can’t tell you to cut back on coffee (but please do not take our medical advice)!

This is because the casein found in milk attaches to the tannins found in coffee and helps prevent staining. Cream makes everything better. If adding a splash of creamy goodness to your cup of joe is how you roll, don’t let anyone make you feel ashamed about that. (Just to be clear, we are still talking about half and half, right?).
