Everything You Need to Know About Mug Releases

Mugs up, motherfunctioners!
“[A mug] is the best vehicle with which to accelerate towards your journey to the afterlife.” –Brendan, DWC Mug Reviewer
If you love your coffee, it’s only fitting that you pour the elixir of life into the best damn coffee consumption device available. Just like your coffee, your mug should also make a BOLD statement—a mug that looks sexy, is thick with a beautiful, unique design and meld of color combos, a perfect size and feels great in your hand!
So if you’re new to the Death Wish Coffee family or one of our seasoned “Mug Life” collectors, we want to give you the details on how to be in-the-know for all of our upcoming mug releases.
Here's What You Need to Know:
In 2014, we started working with the amazing craftspeople at Deneen Pottery in St. Paul, Minnesota, to create collectible coffee mugs. Then in 2020, to help meet the demand for all the mugs we wanted to produce for our loyal caffeinds, we also joined forces with Grey Fox.

Charity Mug Releases
We love to work with incredible people and charities to help raise money through the sales of our mugs. We've worked with Zakk Wylde to raise money for St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, the Clauddaugh Fund with Dropkick Murphys, Saratoga County Veterans Service Agency, the Special Olympics New York, as well as many others to come together for a cause.
When we do special mug releases to help raise money for charity, there are:
- No early releases for subscribers
- No text alerts
- No Golden Ticket colors
Since these releases are extremely limited, we want to ensure that everyone has an equal opportunity to purchase a mug and help us raise money for a great cause.

The Collector: Limited-Edition Mugs
Every year we try to release a handful of limited-edition mugs to celebrate our love of coffee. Sometimes our love of mugs and coffee also coincide with our love of various holidays—like National Donut Day.
We tease our mug releases in a few fun ways. First of all, if you aren't following us on social media, you're missing out on all our content and product announcements. It is really easy—we’re @deathwishcoffee on Instagram and Twitter and Death Wish Coffee Company on Facebook.
Also, make sure you have signed up for our mailing list on the website because that is yet another way to stay up-to-date on new releases and details about upcoming mugs.

Golden Ticket Day
A few weeks before the actual mug release day, be on the lookout for the Golden Ticket Day promo. This means every purchase made on our website that day gives you a chance to win an extremely rare mug—it’ll have the same medallion and shape as the upcoming release, but it'll be crafted in a limited-edition glaze. Usually only 15-20 of these incredibly rare variants are made of the upcoming mug, but you won't know if you are a lucky GT winner until your order is delivered.
Subscribers Get One-Day Early Access
If you are a Death Wish Coffee subscriber, you already know you get a ton of discounts and perks for being part of the subscription program. On top of that, subscribers also get one-day early access to the mug release. So if you are a coffee subscriber, make sure to check your email with a subscriber-only login to purchase the mug on our website before everyone else. Remember: Coffee subscriptions are different than subscribing to our email list.

Mug Release Day
The day the mug is released to purchase on our website, we will notify you in many different ways to make sure you know about the mug as soon as it is available to purchase. Because the mugs are limited to 5,000 or less, you have to act fast—they sell out quick.
Here are the best ways to find out about the next upcoming mug release:
- Sign up for our email newsletter. The newsletter sends you an alert right to your inbox. You’ll know exactly when the mug is on sale the day it is released. Here’s a hot tip: Expect that alert around 11 AM EST.
- Sign up for our text message alert system.
- You snooze, you lose. Once the mug is released and sold out, that’s it—you won’t see that mug style again. But if you’re lucky enough to enjoy your favorite brew in one of our new-release mugs, we do try to get them to you safely and as quick as possible. If for any reason your mug arrives damaged, we will do our best to replace it for you.
The Daily Mugs
One last thing about our mugs—we release different versions and styles apart from our sought-after, limited-edition collector mugs. Look for our Daily Mugs to come out a few times a year as well. These are more like a diner-style mug, not handcrafted pottery, and are usually made out of ceramic. Some of our Daily Mugs are pictured above, but look out for other fun releases like our 2021 Zodiac series.
