‘Twas a few days before Christmas and all through the house, and not a creature was stirring, except for this owl sleeping inside of their house.

When one of the “ornaments” scared the family’s 10-year-old daughter, she approached her mom crying about the clatter she witnessed. Mom Kate Newman then sprang to the tree to see what was the matter.
When what to her wondering eyes of disbelief should appear, but an owl nested inside the family’s Christmas tree. Newman peered into the branches and the living owl turned its head and stared right at her.
“No joke, we just found a LIVE owl roosting in our Christmas tree. What?!?!?” the mom wrote on Facebook on Dec. 12, sharing an image of the stern-looking bird.
The Newmans left their doors and windows open all night, hoping the owl would see its own way out. The wise owl didn’t budge, though, and the family had to call a wildlife expert to capture and remove the bird.
The owl was identified as an Eastern screech owl and found thin by the wildlife expert. He believes the owl had been there as long as they had their tree, which was more than a week.
The owl can still be heard hooting at night, which leads Newman to conclude it didn’t fly too far from their home.
She heard him exclaim as he flew out of sight “New tree, who’s this?”
