HOLLYWOOD TRIBUTE FOR STAN LEE SET FOR JANUARY 30, 2019
Stan Lee, one of the creative forces behind Marvel Comics, passed away on November 12, 2018, and had a small private funeral in December. To pay tribute to the late iconic comic writer and producer, fans of Stan Lee can come together for "Excelsior! A Celebration of the Amazing, Fantastic, Incredible, and Uncanny Life of Stan Lee" at the Chinese Theater in Hollywood, California on Jan. 30.
Stan, along with the unmatched creative talents of Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko, created many of the iconic superheroes and super villains in Marvel Comics including Spider-Man, X-Men, Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Black Panther, Fantastic Four, and Daredevil, just to name a few.
Kevin Smith will moderate the star-studded event, and engage conversations about Stan "The Man" Lee with the likes of Mark Hamill, Clark Gregg, Felicia Day, RZA, and many more. Also on hand will be many of Stan's friends and collaborators including Marv Wolfman (the creator of Blade) and Joe Quesada, Marvel Comics Chief Creative Officer.
Also at this event, there will be musical performances, costumes that Stan wore in various cameos in Marvel movies, and a White Castle Crave mobile serving sliders, Stan's favorite snack.
Also, fans will get the first look at pop-culture artist Rob Prior's new gallery show, The Legacy Collection of Stan Lee. Rob will also be creating art live at the event.
Rob Prior will be the guest on episode 111 of our podcast Fueled By Death Cast, and showed us around his studio in LA with a special sneak peek of some of the pieces that will be in his gallery show. Stan personally worked with Rob on some of the art and signed many of the originals before his death in November.
Check out the sneak peek of Rob's Work immortalizing Stan Lee in iconic comic book covers in the video below and check out our full interview with Rob Prior on Thursday, Jan. 31.
