Meet Death Wish: Jason Rury, Shipping and Receiving

Death Wish Coffee Company is made up of a small but growing team. We want to take you inside our headquarters and introduce you to some of the team members that make it all come together.

On a typical day, you'll find Jason Rury on the forklift making sure that all of the bags of green coffee beans get on the shelf, ready to be roasted. Outside of work, he's a gym nut who loves to play guitar. He's also the person that will never let you walk by him without saying hello, and everyone loves him for it.

How long have you been working with Death Wish and what do you do here?

I've been working here for 7 months, which feels crazy. I work on the logistics side of the warehouse, making sure that all of the coffee gets to the warehouse, gets bagged and ready for shipment.

What have you learned about the coffee industry that surprised you?

That coffee emits gasses after being roasted that can be potentially harmful. It's really important to keep the warehouse ventilated.

What does a typical day look like for you? How much coffee do you drink?

A typical day consists of shipping and receiving materials and supplies, in addition to assisting the production team and helping promote a positive work environment.

What do you do for fun?

While this may not seem like fun for everyone, I go to the gym and I love it. I also play guitar.

What’s something that goes on at HQ that people would be surprised to learn?

Despite the age and background differences amongst our employees, we all get along well and work as a cohesive unit in order to achieve one goal - produce the World's Strongest Coffee!
