Death Wish Coffee Company is made up of a small but growing team. We want to take you inside our headquarters and introduce you to some of the team members that make it all come together.
Teah Teriele's first experience with Death Wish was serving it up to tired customers at Saratoga Coffee Traders, the birthplace of the brand. Since moving on to the Death Wish team, Teah has had a heavy hand in everything from the products you see to the memes that brighten (or darken) your mornings. Outside of being Death Wish's resident coffee connoisseur, she's obsessed with her adorable pup, Sadie and enjoys the occasional beer at the local dive.
How long have you been working with Death Wish and what do you do here?
I’ve been with Death Wish since September of 2013. Before that, I worked for Mike at his coffee shop for a few years on and off. I manage Marketing here at Death Wish. To put it simply, I work with the best team in the world finding creative ways spread the word of the World’s Strongest Coffee.
We know you came in as a coffee expert but what’s something you’ve learned about coffee by working here?
Ha! I thought I came in as a coffee expert. With any field, so much has been discovered since 2013. Honestly, I came in as a little bit of a coffee snob. Different people like different kinds of coffee, I think that’s the most important thing I’ve learned. I preach Chemex brewing to the death, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t take from the auto-drip here and there.
What does a typical day look like for you? How much coffee do you drink?
Oh, god. My most productive days are when I drink coffee nonstop. I’m not sure if it’s because the blood is flowing from all of the trips to the coffee maker or the coffee itself, but it’s probably both. I drink a ton of coffee. Too much. Never enough. No two days look alike for me lately. A few constants—checking stats on our site and campaign performance, and making sure our marketing calendar is up to date, and touching base with the marketing team.
What do you do for fun?
I’m pretty vocal about spending most of my time with my pup, Sadie. She’s an 11-year-old pit with all of the energy in the world. We go hiking and swimming every chance we get.
Otherwise, I’m probably stumbling over my fingers learning guitar, singing too loudly in my car, or watching The Office.
What’s something that goes on at HQ that people would be surprised to learn?
We put it out there pretty heavily that we have a ton of fun here. We certainly do. On the other hand a lot of times when friends show up, we’re all on our computers and have no time for nonsense, I’d say that’s more surprising than anything else.
People are certainly surprised by the way we speak to each other. We can get pretty crass with each other. At the end of the day, we’re a tight-knit team and we challenge each other often. It works, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
