It's that time of year again - the time to fry up some chicken wings, put the beer on ice, and get ready for the best commercials of the year! (Oh yea, and there is a football game to be played as well.)
We first want to thank all of you for helping to vote us into the winner's circle in the Small Business Big Game competition two years ago. During Super Bowl 50 our 30-second spot aired and the rest, as they say, is history.
If you missed it, you can check it out again on YouTube right here:
Obviously, that is the best commercial to ever be played in the Super Bowl, but I asked some football fans around the office what their favorite commercials were from years past and these were their answers:
FIELD YATES - ESPN REPORTER
We recently had Field Yates on our Fueled By Death Cast show talking all things football, and we had to ask him what his favorite commercial was. His answer? The iconic frogs saying "Bud" "Wise" "Er" that launched an ad campaign that had many iterations over the years, even being parodied on shows like The Simpsons.
KANE GROGAN - PROJECT MANAGER
Kane is a fan of two things: Football and Betty White. So when Snickers came out with their commercial in 2010 it was a win-win for Kane. This commercial is consistently ranked one of the funniest of all time.
BRAD GABOROW - LOGISTICS
One half of our mighty team of Brads, Mr. Gaborow picks another iconic commercial from Budweiser. This time, the guys screaming "Wassup!" to each other makes the grade and makes us all laugh in the process. Fun fact: This commercial originally aired on Monday Night Football in 1999 but gained its huge following and parodies after appearing in Super Bowl 2000.
MIKE BROWN - OWNER/CEO
Going all the way back to 1993, Mike has picked one of the most memorable and well-loved commercials ever. Brought to us by fast food titan McDonalds, this spot features basketball legends Larry Bird and Michael Jordan playing a game of H-O-R-S-E that escalates quickly. Even though we know many of the shots are special camera tricks, we wanted to believe these two amazing athletes were actually sinking every shot.
JEFF AYERS - BROADCASTING
I had to weigh in on this list, as I myself have watched a lot of Super Bowl broadcasts over the years, if for nothing else than the commercials. I am going way ,way, waaaaay back to 1984 and the amazing Apple commercial from that Big Game. This changed the way people viewed commercials in general and introduced the world to The Macintosh. It only aired once but has not been forgotten.
ERIC DONOVAN - CHIEF LOGISTICS OFFICER
Here comes another ad featuring Michael Jordan, but this time he is joined by comedy legend Steve Martin. The Air Jordan IX commercial first aired in 1994 and came in two parts - playing off the time when Jordan decided to stop playing basketball for a little while.
