Cinnamon: What makes our Cauldron-Aged Pumpkin Coffee taste like fall

What're the health benefits of cinnamon?

Let's face it — without cinnamon, there's no fall. Without fall, there is no life. Cinnamon is the spice of life for pumpkin pie, snickerdoodles, warm cinnamon apples, apple cider, and more (is your mouth watering as much as mine is?).

Fresh cinnamon is also a major ingredient in our Cauldron-Aged Pumpkin Coffee. Here at HQ, we've been busy brewing up our pumpkin coffee — made with completely fresh ingredients inspired by our homemade chai recipe. Other pumpkin coffees, step aside — unlike you, there are no artificial ingredients in our cauldrons.

We take spices from around the world such as cardamom, cinnamon, and ginger, and simmer them for about 12 hours. Then, we mix the batch of chai with unroasted coffee beans and let them age for 10-12 days. Once the beans are dry enough to roast, we finish off the potion with our signature Death Wish Coffee roasting process

To celebrate each unique, fresh ingredient we toss in our cauldron, we wanted to explore the health benefits of each and how it's used in foods around the world. The past few weeks, we wrote about both ginger and cardamom. This week? You guessed it: Cinnamon.

What're the health benefits of cinnamon?

Cinnamon has been praised for its medicinal properties for thousands of years. It's made from the inner bark of trees scientifically known as Cinnamomum, and has been used as an ingredient dating back to Ancient Egypt.

Here are the health benefits of cinnamon:

  • It's loaded with antioxidants
  • It has a ton of anti-inflammatory properties
  • It can cut the risk of heart disease
  • It can improve sensitivity to the hormone insulin
  • It lowers blood sugar levels
  • It has a powerful antibiotic effect
  • It may have beneficial effects for neurodegenerative diseases
  • It can help fight bacterial and fungal infections
  • It may help fight the HIV virus

Conclusion: Cinnamon is a miracle spice. And it's delicious, too.
